The drugs full name is Methamphetamine.
Some street names it has are Tina, Chrissy, Speed, Meth, Tweak, Glass, Crank, Chalk, Cinnamon and Chicken feed.
Methamphetamine is an addictive drug that will give the user a high when they take it. During a high the user will experience heightened confidence, a false sense of happiness, but the user can become addicted and the drug can destroy the users life. It is first a stimulant but then when the user takes it more it will morph into a poison and destroy the users body from the inside out. Often the user will die from health problems related to meth such as heart failure, lung damage, seizures etc. Suicide can also become a problem due to depression caused by the fallout, or “withdrawal” of not taking the drug.
Methamphetamine appears as a white crystal-like drug.
It is used by snorting it (inhaling through the nose), injecting it, smoking it or eating it.
When a teenager first takes the drug, they get such a high that they want it again and their body will become dependent on the drug to feel any type of pleasure.
Positives of the drug include experiencing heightened confidence, a false sense of happiness and seemingly unlimited energy. Negatives of the drug include memory loss, aggression, psychotic behaviour, brain and heart damage and depression.
Short term effects on wellbeing include tiredness after the high, aggressiveness, irritation.
Long term effects on wellbeing include mental health issues.
